Phone Masts and Cancer Clusters PDF Print E-mail
We invited Physicist Dr. John Walker from Sutton Coldfield, an expert in this field, to give us a presentation on the subject at Lakers Youth Centre, Denton Way, Goldsworth Park, Woking, Surrey, GU21 3DB on Monday 3rd July at 7pm.

The reason for our concern was the recent investigations into Cancer Clusters in the UK, and in other parts of Europe, where several people, including children, in specific localities have developed cancer at much the same time. These have each been shown to correspond with areas receiving the highest microwave emissions from a nearby Mobile Telephone Mast or Masts.

This has been the case in Devon, Lincolnshire and Staffordshire.

There is no reason to believe that the situation is any different here in Woking.

The meeting was highly informative, but highly shocking. It was a real eye-opener for those present to hear the conclusions of multiple studies which all consistently and clearly show that the more microwave emissions from mobile telephone masts are present in highly localised patches the more ill health cases amongst residents are present. The immune system is depleted and melatonin levels are reduced, thus the body is unable to repair damage as it usually would during our sleep cycles. The amount of time that a mast has been emitting was shown to determine if the illnesses included cancers. Roughly speaking if a mast has been present for five years or more then cancer cases start to appear where the mast emissions are strongest. If the mast has been present for nearer ten years then clear cancer clusters are shown.

The situation in and around the Mobile Phone Mast at Kestrel Way Recycling Centre, which has been emitting microwaves since 1999, has not yet reached the point of clear cancer clusters, but some cancer cases, including fatalities, are known to us already. Other illnesses such as depression, sleep disorders, recurring headaches and itchy burning skin are likely to be occurring nearby as well as in to proximity to the two currently erected Mobile Phone Masts by Harelands Roundabout on Lockfield Drive. From the statistics presented at the meeting ill health and cancers are not merely likely, but are inevitable.

This is a sad indictment of our current Planning laws and the so-called Health Protection Agency. We are now in the situation that the only way of improving the health of residents is for them to spend time away from their homes. Periods spent away from home when the less 'serious' symptoms disappear are usually indicative of ill-health being caused by environmental factors – such as a Mobile Telephone Mast.

How long must we and our children suffer? When will this madness end?

We have produced a CD-ROM containing the content of the above presentation (and more) which we have delivered to all Woking councillors and relevant Officers and Executives. We ask that the CD-ROM is given proper attention immediately.

We call upon Woking Borough Council to properly protect its residents against the serious health effects from these masts and lead the battle against Mobile Telephone Masts – and other household devices using the same microwave technology – on behalf of its residents by applying the Precautionary Principle as set in EU law by refusing all Mobile Telephone Masts applications in residential areas, reinstating the 200m exclusion area that it introduced in 2000 then removed in 2003 and, additionally, to alert Woking residents fully to the dangers of microwave emissions. From here they can take the fight to Parliament and save our nation from the looming health crisis.

And we call upon the Government to pay proper attention to the Independent Scientific Research and Studies which show clear and serious ill health effects from long term exposure to microwave radiation from e.g. Mobile Telephone Masts. We call for the Precautionary Principle as set in EU law to be adhered to and applied by refusing all Mobile Telephone Masts applications in or near residential areas. We call upon Government to put Health before (Billions of pounds worth of) Profit.
