AGAINST DR BEN GOLDACRE
Cultural Dwarfs and Junk Journalism is Martin Walker’s fourth book charting the development of the corporate science lobby that has grown rapidly since New Labour came to power in 1997. One of the most recent exponents of the Lobby is Dr Ben Goldacre who has regurgitated a bad ‘Science’ column in the Guardian newspaper since 2003.
Like other quackbusters Goldacre claims to write factually based and scientifically accurate articles about health, medicine and science either supporting scientists and doctors or criticising individuals involved in alternative or nutritional health care. Goldacre’s writing, however, actually reflects the ideology of powerful industrial, technological and political vested interests.
Goldacre who it is claimed is a Junior doctor working in a London NHS hospital is actually a clinical researcher working at the centre of New Labour’s Orwellian spin operation that puts a sympathetic gloss on anything shown to create adverse reactions from MMR to Wi-Fi, while at the same time undermining cost-effective and long tried alternative therapies such as acupuncture and homoeopathy. Goldacre is involved with public health researchers well known for trying to prove that those who claim to be adversely affected by pollutants in our modern high-technology society, suffer from ‘false illness beliefs’.
Cultural Dwarfs and Junk Journalism, investigates Goldacre’s role in industry lobby groups and puts another point of view in defense of some of the people whom he has attacked, belittled, satirized, castigated, vilified, maligned and opined against in his junk journalism.

Cancer Alert - Consume Less Red Meat, Sugars and Alcohol ??? |

Our View -
If the Government was serious about wanting to reduce the number of cancer occurrences, the advice would be:
- Stop using your mobile phone (and get rid of it)
- Get rid of all wireless devices in your homes (replace them with wired versions)
- Ensure your neighbours do the same
Additionally, some of the things they would do, would be:
- Dismantle all mobile telephone masts (and use safe alternatives for communications instead)
- Ban all microwave emitting devices, gadgets, etc from being sold or used, anywhere
The above would 'miraculously' greatly reduce the rising cancer figures.
But No - let's continue ignoring the research, studies and advice form Independent scientists - who (generally) say microwave technology is dangerous and does cause adverse health effects, including cancers over the long term..
Let's continue taking the advice from the billions-of-pounds-biased persons/companies with Interest in the product and its technology - who (generally) say it is all safe.
Let's also not bother doing any detailed epidemiology studies on a house by house scale, to properly examine the claims of Cancer Clusters around masts in Great Britain. Let's not bother to properly investigate people's health, where masts/wi-fi, etc. have been in existence near by for at least a few years.
The Government, the Industry (and other persons/organisations responsible) have already bloodied their hands years ago by putting profits before health, in allowing this technology in the first place.
They continue to turn a blind eye to it all.
Until they admit the dangers of microwave radiation, our health, including cancers, will continue to be put very much at great risk - however much or little red meat, sugars and alcohol we consume, and the rate of cancers will only continue to escalate - as has been the case since mobile phone masts started to be erected widely, in the 1990's. |
